Megahouse’s DX Izanagi

This is easily one of my favorite figures to come out in the past few months. The sculpt is fantastic and really does justice to the game designs. It’s one of the main reasons I’m really excited about the continuation of this line with Konohana Sakuya who also looks spectacular.

I actually had a lot of trouble with this shoot. It’s still not quite where I want it to be but getting the levels right on a shoot with terrible lighting and a heavy fog made it quite a challenge to get things to the point where I was satisfied putting it up. If you are one of those many Persona 4 fans out there who collect toys. I would more than recommend this as it is easily the best piece of merchandise from the game released to this point.

note to self: Never shoot at night in the fog again

Plastikitty Loot: April 2012

And lo’ the loot has been dropped. Let the kids know if there is anything you want to see reviewed as there is a ton of great stuff

Kotobukiya Shows Off The Final Art For Their DC Bishoujo Huntress
We’ve posted about this before but now with a better look I can have more of an opinion on the thing. The face is really good as is the base but I will never like the belly window. Seriously I love everything about it but the belly window which will never not strike me as being dumb.

Alpha X Omega’s 1/8 scale Lina from Heroman

Alpha X Omega is the pairing of Alter and Megahouse and they did an absolutely fantastic job on this figure. One of the things I like about it is that it does what could be a relatively dull pose and gives it life with the simple act of having her taking a step forward. One of the things I’ve learned about sculpting is that even the simplest poses can be made to be far more exciting by the simple act of the subject taking a step. Moving in even a small way can make a simple sculpt dynamic and I love the subtlety to the movement.

Would I tell you to buy this figure? Hell yes I would if you can find it out there it is well worth having as part of my collection. Especially if you are a fan of the manga and/or anime.

Persona 3’s Aegis from ALTER.

One of the best figure manufacturers takes on one of the most overproduced characters in the figure world and outdoes every single other one out there. What can I really say about this figure that isn’t said by just looking. The details are absolutely stunning from the gears in the figure all being meticulously well crafted to the joints having Aegis etched in them in a clear and smooth manner. Combine that with a near perfect paint job and this goes from being just another Aegis to being not only the best rendition of the character, but one of the best figures of all time. If you can find a decent deal on the figure. I would say buy it, especially if you are a Megaten fan. This is a figure that anyone would be happy to have in their collection.

Reitaisai 9: ques Q

Some really cool looking TOuhou stuff coming up. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Ques Q is going to bring to the table on these as the designwork looks stellar and Yuyuko looks absolutely fantastic.

Playable Saber from Fate/Extra
Size: 1/8
Company: Gift
Materials: PVC

Wow.

Just. Wow.

Move over ALTER’s Momohime. You have been dethroned (and rightfully so!) by Gift’s imperial Playable Saber—at least on my list of most enjoyed figures. Saber is so astonishingly detailed I don’t regret spending the extra bit of cash for a 1/8 size figure compared to other ones her size.

From ahoge-hairtip to iron boot toe, there’s literally not one ounce of wasted painted plastic. She bares striking similarity to the other another Saber of renown. Her hair is pleasantly neat and detailed and she even has her trademark extra-long ahoge. Her face is different from the official art, but I feel this works overall for this figure. I’ll get into this later.

Everything just screams “Look at me, and marvel at my beauty!” and I agree completely. Her velvety scarlet red dress is “flowy” and dramatically windswept while still adorned with militaristic garnishments, and she still prominently displays her large bust through it all. Her backside is very exposed and she’s not afraid to let people see!

The gold edges all over her clothes just increase her overall grandeur. They are meticulously detailed with intricate patterns and use different embroidery depending on where the gold trim is on the figure. I flipped out when I realized this.

Saber’s lower skirt is translucent white and she is certainly unabashed with letting people see what’s underneath; I had a blast taking different photos of this part. The translucent skirt is also gilded with detailed and embroidered patterns, and when it catches the light it looks dramatically different!

Her base has a mirrored surface on top and with the sun outside I was getting extra lighting just adding more to her complexity. I never had two of the same photograph. Of course from certain angles you can see right up her dress, and even her underwear has some embroidery on it.

This Saber is not quite exactly what the official art would dictate for Playable Saber, and honestly when I was ordering her I hesitated for this exact reason. I’m in love with the game Fate/Extra and when I first saw this figure I wasn’t too thrilled that despite how cool the figure looked overall the face didn’t match up. But after getting her, looking at her, having her in my hands and taking pictures of her, I am completely 100% A-OK with the creative liberties taken for this figure.

She is gorgeous, and just looking at her next to me makes me want to take her back out for some more photos! :]

Gift’s Saber Extra is an absolutely gorgeous figure and if you can get your hands on it I would highly recommend it She’s currently selling for 8480 Yen on AmiAmi and is worth every bit of it

I really like this line so I hope it comes out well when it’s colored.
